Book Signings -- Have a beer with authors who mention McGillin's in their books - from comic books to suspense novels & from beer guides to business guides. Specialty brew $2. No cover. Start at 6 p.m.

 
  • Joe Sixpack (a.k.a. Don Russell), Joe Sixpack’s Philly Beer Guide: A Reporter’s Notes on the Best Beer-Drinking City in America, on Tuesday, August 4. In his Philly Guide, Russell calls McGillin’s “loud, noisy, and fun downstairs, quiet room upstairs, good beer everywhere.” Russell writes the Joe Sixpack beer column for the Philadelphia Daily News.
  • Lew Bryson, author of 4 regional brewery guides, including PA Breweries, will be on hand to chat about breweries & brewpubs on Tuesday, August 11. In his guide, Bryson calls McGillin's

    “a great place to have a beer with a buddy or your spouse, and they have some really good stuff on tap.” Bryson is managing editor of Malt Advocate magazine and a blogger.

  • American crime novelist Duane Swierczynski, who wrote about Frank Castle’s escapades in Philadelphia for Marvel Comic’s “The Punisher, on Tuesday, August 25. For the comic book, he created an historic tavern, called "Interesting Times Pub," modeled after McGillin's. Brave New Worlds will be on-hand with the newly-released trade paperback.
  • New York Times bestselling author William Lashner will read from Blood & Bones on Tuesday, September 1. The main characters in his latest book enjoy a brew at McGillin’s. His Victor Carl novels, which have been translated into more than a dozen languages and have been sold across the globe, include Killer’s Kiss, Marked Man, Falls the Shadow, Past Due, Fatal Flaw, Bitter Truth and Hostile Witness
  • Dr. Lewis Losoncy, motivational psychologist and the Dr. of Encouragement, will read from Early Poppers: The Secrets of Self-Starters on Tuesday, September 8. Dr. Lew cites long-time McGillin's employee, John Doyle, as an example of a superstar of customer service.
     

Octoberfest -- Celebrate this beer-inspired holiday starting Tuesday, August 25 with Octoberfest beers & German food. During the Midtown Village Fall Festival on Saturday, October 3, we'll turn Drury Street into a Beer Garden with live entertainment, German beers & food.

 Friday the 13th -- Join us for a party every Friday the 13th. The next one is ....Friday the 13th of November . Wanna get lucky? Sip a “Rabbit’s Foot” or “4 Leaf Clover.” If you prefer to tempt fate…gulp down a “Black Cat” or “Open Umbrella.” $5 pitchers of PBR from 5 – 7 p.m. In November, it's spooky karaoke with songs mentioning vampires, witches and werewolves, starting at 10 p.m.

2nd Floor Bar -We've just renovated our 2nd floor bar and added a 20-foot antique oak back bar. We'll open it on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights. Serving 10 locally brewed craft beers. Also available for private parties.

Open Mic Night - It's better than American Idol auditions. Thursday nights.
